Age before Beauty?

Time Out New York Article on Lear DeBessonet

I was thinking about my age and how most innovative and creative artist out here are getting younger and younger. Art typically is a young and fresh medium. I’ve heard so many people say that directors need life experiences to be able to direct from a more “worldly” perspective. I found this article of Lear DeBessonet and almost wept. This woman is 27 and at the time that this article ran in the Time Out New York, she was 25. A renowned, innovative director at 25? What are your thoughts on age and art? Does age play apart in being able to direct complex pieces? Is it possible for someone young to have those same experiences as an older director? Is it good practice to choose age before beauty? What are your thoughts?
